According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Eshaq Jahangiri, the first vice president, expressed on the 19th festival on appreciation of the top researchers and technologists across the country: it might be imagined that scientific development must be carried out when there is no problem in the country. However, the fact is that scientific development must be exactly performed on hard days to deal with challenges and eliminate limitations. In fact, when there is a higher rate of problems, scientific development must be more prioritized.

The first vice president continued: scientific development and attention to the modern technologies and applied research in conditions that we are faced with economic and social issues and international problems can help us deal with the challenges of the county.

Jahangiri affirmed: knowledge-based economy can replace the current economy, which is based on oil and other natural resources.

The first vice president emphasized that this knowledge, research, and technology must be completely implemented in the economy of the county. In this regard, he expressed: this important issue is being followed up through university, industry, and society interactions. When these three become in line, the knowledge-based economy will appear.

The first vice president pointed out the call of the government to invite the scientists and professors of the country to help the elimination of the major challenges, stating: some universities in the country have shown good performance in this regard, and several working groups have been set up to help resolve problems at universities. On the summit of the 13 top universities in the country, important issues were expressed and the results were provided to the government.

Jahangiri claimed: entrepreneurs with a knowledge-based approach must be prioritized for support. If it is aimed to support the qualitative and quantitative expansion of universities, the universities with graduates who are risk takers and active in the field of knowledge-based economy must be first supported.

The vice president for science and technology affairs mentioned the report by the vice president for science and technology affairs on the presence of three thousand and 800 knowledge-based companies in the country, explaining: fortunately, knowledge-based companies form from science and technology park and rely on academic workforce.

The Emphasis of the First Vice President on the Support of Knowledge-based Companies by the Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology Affairs

Jahangiri emphasized the importance of activity of knowledge-based companies in foreign markets, adding: both the ministry of mine, industry, and trade, and the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs must provide the necessary support to knowledge-based companies so that they could present their products in international exhibitions.

He continued: support of knowledge-based companies and the science and technology parks has been observed in the budget of 2019 and in the total policies, and five science and technology corridors have been established in five provinces of the country, and we hope to see the activation of these corridors in other provinces.
