According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the innovation challenge of renewable energies will be held November 29^th-December 2^nd, 2017 by the support of energy technology development headquarters in order to create and develop issue-driven businesses.

According to this report, the innovation challenge of renewable energies is an issue-driven event, which is designed according to the current issues in energy opportunities of Iran and the region. This event will cover the presentation of solutions, modeling and marketing of startup ideas in the area of renewable energies according to leap model, which is designed and implemented based on the current models in Iran and according to the structure and level of maturity of ecosystem in the country. To date, seven leap events have been held in the form of issue-driven events in specialized fields.

Relying on the principle of customer-orientation and sympathy with customers, this model provides the necessary tools for detection and deeply understanding of customers in the form of educational workshops. Participants of these workshops will provide innovative solutions based on actual challenges using the designed tools in the leap accelerator. The main difference between a leap event and a startup event is similar to the applicability of outputs and complete operation of products, which have passed the correct process of needs assessment. Some of the workshops of this event include the workshop of six thinking hats, team making, empathy canvas, and design thinking, which are taught by prominent professors of this area.

In order to familiarize students with innovative events, the Vice-Presidency has provided the opportunity for students in engineering fields related to material engineering and energy to participate in this event with student tickets. This challenge will be held by leap accelerator in Tehran University during November 29^th-December 2^nd, 2017.
