The Sina robotic surgery system (Flex Model) was unveiled in the “Made in Iran” exhibition for the first time.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, this system is the result of 15 years of efforts of experts of Tehran University of Medical Sciences in the biomedical and robotic technologies research center of the mentioned university. The system is able to be used in different types of training surgeries (animal models) in the abdominal cavity and chest area, even remotely.

Alireza Mirbagheri, the CEO of the knowledge-based company of Sina Medical and Robotics Innovators, introduced the device unveiled during the sixth “Made in Iran” exhibition, expressing: this  system has two main parts, including remote surgery console and surgeon robots located at the bedside of patients. 

He pointed out the unique abilities and competitive advantages of the robot against its foreign counterparts, asserting: compared to its foreign counterparts, this device is able to provide feedback and transfer the tactile sensation from surgery site to the hands of the surgeon. In addition, it can be connected to one or both sides of the surgery bed (depending on the type of surgery). Moreover, the device can be moved along with the surgery bed and patient during the surgery.

Furthermore, the device is presented with a lower cost, compared to its American counterparts, due to its special technical characteristics, thereby reducing the need for high costs of annual repair and maintenance.

According to this report, the sixth “Made in Iran” exhibition of laboratory equipment and materials is held along with the 19^th exhibition of research, technology, and technomart achievements of the country at the location of the international exhibition of Iran.
