According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the fourth national festival and exhibition of medicinal herbs, natural products and Iranian medicine (traditional medicine) published its first newsletter by the efforts of the medicinal herbs sciences and technologies development headquarter and with the cooperation of knowledge-based economy and culture building development headquarter.

This eight-page newsletter was published in September and contains an editorial note by Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, and Seyed Hasan Ghazizadeh Hashemi, minister of health, treatment and medical education.

Sorena Sattari considered the development of medicinal herbs sciences and technologies and traditional medicine with the title of “the sturdy vitaceae of Iran’s medicine”. In addition, Ghazizadeh Hashemi published a note, in which he pointed out the need for cooperation between traditional and modern medicine in booming of health.

Mohammad Hasan Osare, secretary of medicinal herbs and traditional medicine sciences and technologies development headquarter and secretary of the fourth national festival and exhibition of medicinal herbs, natural products and Iranian medicine (traditional medicine), discussed the importance of ethical creativity in medicinal herbs and traditional medicine in a note published in the first newsletter of the event.

“Established and famous” is the title of the note written by Parviz Karami, advisor to the vice president for science and technology affairs and secretary of knowledge-based economy, technology and science development headquarter in this newsletter.

In another part of the newsletter, various sections of the fourth national festival and exhibition of medicinal herbs, natural products and Iranian medicine (traditional medicine) are explained separately. Among the sections of the exhibition are health village, technomart, herbarium, festival of students and publications.

In the first newsletter of the fourth national festival and exhibition of medicinal herbs, natural products and Iranian medicine (traditional medicine), a report on the effect of support of Iranian products on the growth and development of this field was published.

In this report, the newsletter has interviewed Majid Valdan, director general of the office of technology affairs of the organization for research, training, and agricultural promotion, Amir Hossein Jamshidi, advisor to the head of food and drug organization, and Fatemeh Asgari, a faculty member in the Research Institute of Forests and Rangelands.

The role of medicinal herbs, herbal products and Iranian medicine in occupation is the topic of another report published in this newsletter. In this report, interviews are made with Alireza Khosravi, a professor in University of Tehran, Abbas Pourmeydani, head of agriculture research and education center of Qom province, and Hossein Rezaeizadeh, head of center for the growth of Iranian medicine and medicinal plants.

A review of the three previous rounds of the festival along with a short review of the fourth round form the next report published in the newsletter. In the end, a table set based on the approach of medicinal herbs is presented.
