The Medical “K1 Lifebot” Is Unveiled; Karami: Knowledge-based Companies Have Turned Threats into Opportunities

 

The experts of a knowledge-based company have been able to design and engineer a medical service robot in a short time. Known as “K1 Lifebot”, the robot reduces the interaction between the therapist and the patient during the outbreak of highly-contagious diseases owing to its special features. Today, the K1 Lifebot starts its activity as a staff member of Hashemi Nezhad Hospital and in Qatar and Russia simultaneously.

An Iranian medical robot, “K1 Lifebot” is another achievement of the innovation and technology ecosystem that was unveiled today in the presence of some of the medical staff, physicians, and authorities. This robot has been designed to assist the medical staff. The idea of the project emerged with the outbreak of corona in the current year.

Activists of the Knowledge-based Ecosystem Have Turned a Threat into an Opportunity

During the ceremony, Parviz Karami, the secretary of the knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter, stated: the innovation and technology ecosystem has been able to show its services and products to the society and recognize the needs of the community. This became more evident in the outbreak of coronavirus, when people were familiarized with Iranian products and achievements that could meet their needs.

The “K1 Lifebot” medical robot is unveiled with the same purpose. This is a new movement toward assisting the medical staff and more involve the technologies of artificial intelligence in the hospital industry. The robot starts working in Hashemi Nezhad Hospital and is simultaneously applied in Qatar and Russia as well.

The advisor to the vice president for science and technology affairs continued: this proves the creativity and scientific ability of the youth in the country. These individuals recognize the needs and act on meeting these requirements. In addition, they turn threats into opportunities. Therefore, we must trust and support them and give them an opportunity to show themselves.

Karami also marked: people like the medical staff and authorities of Hashemi Nezhad Hospital must be appreciated because the medical staff of many countries have left their work in corona pandemic but none of the brave Iranian staff left their job. In addition to the bravery of these individuals, the production of Iranian products and services to people by the activists of the ecosystem led to the domestication of the necessary products and equipment required in the battle against corona.

Pointing out the opportunity of corona crisis, the head of the information and communication center of the Vice-Presidency continued: while corona has caused huge damages in people’s lives, it has had some advantages, including the exhibition of our country’s scientific and technological authority. The crisis showed the image of a strong Iran. the disease was an opportunity to update our knowledge and technology protocols. Today, our knowledge-based companies are capable in meeting domestic needs with their products and even exporting their products. For instance, N95 masks and corona detection kits were mass-produced 20 days after the corona outbreak, and now their production capacity exceeds the country"s needs, and we can see its export, even now we are exporting the production line of these masks.

Karami also referred to the support of the knowledge-based companies and startups, asserting: this support is not only for the government, but also for the private and social sectors, and we must all work together for the growth and development of the technology and innovation ecosystem. This is mainly because supporting this ecosystem is supporting the knowledge-based economy and getting rid of the oil economy and centralized imports.

Karami also mentioned the role of the Moheb Hospital Group that supported the knowledge-based company as a venture capital and appreciated this act.

The Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology Affairs; An Effective Unit in the Field of Knowledge-based Activities

Alireza Zali, the commander of corona management operations in Tehran, stated: we congratulate the development of knowledge-based companies’ activities with the help of the Vice-Presidency. These technology companies are now being run by a young creative generation that has created a kind of Jihadi uprising in the country.

Pointing out the engineering of K1 Lifebot in the country, he mentioned: the design and construction of this robot made it impossible to work in less than 50 days, which was done by experts in a knowledge-based company.

In addition, Gharekhani, the CEO of the knowledge-based company, explained the features of the robot, marking: the robot operates automatically or remotely. carrying food and medicine to different rooms and presenting it to the patient, measuring the patient"s temperature and blood oxygen level, audio-visual communication between the doctor and the patient are some of its features. Of course, due to the fact that this robot is made in Iran, it is possible to add other sensors to it.

Mohsen Abbasi, the CEO of Hashemi Nezhad Hospital was another lecturer in the ceremony, who marked: the robot was designed and built entirely in Iran and is 100% Iranian. Our goal is not only to deal with corona, but also to fight any contagious disease, and it is effective in treating highly transmitted diseases. Jalil Kouhpayezadeh, the head of Iran University of Medical Sciences, confirmed the entry of technology to the medical universities of the country.

In addition to unveiling K1 medical robot, the medical staff of Hashemi Nezhad Hospital were awarded in the presence of authorities.
