The final stage of the international challenge of Bebras in computer sciences and computational thinking will be held with the support of knowledge-based economy and culture-building development headquarter.
According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the third and final stage of the 15th round of the international Bebras challenge will be held August 3rd-4th, 2018 in the fundamental sciences research center and in the presence of 100 top students from across the country.
The final stage of this challenge will be held by the cultural institute of Fatemi and with the support of knowledge-based economy and culture-building development headquarter. This challenge is an online promotional competition with the aim of familiarizing students with concepts of computer sciences and computational thinking in more than 70 countries of the world. This global innovation attempts to provide the condition for attention to computer sciences and computational thinking for its audiences across the world in the form of a motivational challenge.
The first stage of the challenge was held online last year in the area of computer, where students were able to participate in the event from anywhere, including school, home or any other place with Internet.
The Bebras Challenge is a set of short and semi-long interactive or multiple-choice issues called Bebras puzzles. These issues have a close relation to computer science concepts. Nevertheless, students from the elementary level can also solve the problems with no prior knowledge of computer sciences.
In fact, Bebras puzzles familiarize students with aspects of computational thinking and concepts of computer sciences, such as information, discrete structures, computations and data processing and algorithmic methods without engaging them with complicated technical issues. Providing a learning opportunity in this field for students of the country is one of the necessities of the modern world.
In this regard, this attractive promotional competition will be held with the goals of changing the attitude and improving general knowledge of computer sciences and computational thinking, education and promotion of concepts of computer sciences and computational thinking, and training teachers in this field.
