According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, after the official invitation of Hilal Ali Zaher Al Hinai, secretary general of the research council (the highest technological reference of Oman) last week, an official and commercial delegation traveled to Oman with deputy for international affairs and technological exchange of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs as president and head of center for international interactions and ten active knowledge-based companies in the area of information and communication technology.
Ali Morteza Birang, deputy for international affairs and technological exchange, stated: we paid special attention to three major areas during this three-day travel. The first topic was holding the second meeting of the joint technology workgroup with research council of Oman, which resulted in following up of agreed subjects.
He added: in addition to following up the programs of the joint workgroup, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Pardis technology park and innovation park of Muscat to exchange the work space between the two countries and establish a location for representatives of the two parties.
He also pointed out: announcing the programs of cognitive sciences development headquarter for holding specialized workshops in Muscat, admission of Omani student in the form of scholarships, establishment of cognitive science lab and defining joint research projects were discussed with the Omani side.
Deputy for international affairs and technological exchange asserted: research committee of Oman, which is currently one of the major members of the strategic council of the Mustafa Prize, has been officially invited by the secretary of the executive committee of the Mustafa Prize to attend the second round of this festival.
Holding the Meeting of the Next Year for Exchange of Scientific and Technological Experiences of Islamic Countries in Muscat
According to Birang and based on an agreement with Sultan Qaboos University, the meeting of the next year for exchange of scientific and technological experiences of Islamic countries will be held in Muscat.
Deputy for international affairs and technological exchange continued: another part of the important programs of this travel was meeting of the members of Iranian delegation (whether governmental or private) with minister of commerce and industry of Oman.
In another part of his speech, Birang marked: in this meeting and after pointing out the most important priorities of this country in the area of ICT by its minister, a number of knowledge-based companies expressed their preparedness for providing technological solutions for the mentioned priorities.
In terms of the second most important subject of this travel, Birang stated: during this travel, 14 individuals from 10 knowledge-based companies in the area of information and communication technology accompanied this Iranian official delegation with goals of “familiarization of companies with business environment in the area of information technology of Oman”, “evaluation of export opportunities”, and “finding possible business partners”.
He continued: some of the plans of this travel were visit of “technology fund of Oman as one of the large institutes of Oman in investment in information technology area”, “visit of innovation park of Muscat as the second park under construction”, and “visit of information technology park of Oman as the main institute for policy-making in the area of information technology of Oman”.
According to Birang, some of the other plans of the Iranian delegation included “familiarization with the special economic zone in Duqm”, “visit of innovation factory”, “holding a meeting with telecommunication managers of Oman (OmanTel) as the main active operator in this country”, “visit of the innovation region of Muscat as the first technology park of Oman”, and “visit of the national business center of Oman”.
Deputy for international affairs and technological exchange continued: holding a meeting with the head of chamber of commerce of Oman and holding business-to-business meetings between Iranian companies and their counterparts in Oman and at the location of the chamber of commerce are some of the scheduled programs designed by the host.
Head of international interaction center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs asserted: meeting of the Iranian delegation and ambassador in Muscat along with business, culture and research advisors and other authorities of the Iranian ambassador in Oman and informing the companies about the business environment of Oman by the Iranian ambassador were some of the other programs of this three-day travel.
