The Iranian national science foundation has supported 92 international patent registration to this date.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, support of international patent registration is one of the acts performed by the patent registration working group of the Iranian national science foundation to support the researchers and technologists. Since the establishment of this working group in 2007, 92 international patent registrations have been supported. These inventions have had various topics, including medicine, technical and engineering, agriculture, chemistry, and physics.

According to this report, some of the goals of this working group include assistance in the financing of international patent registration, promotion of the culture of registration of research achievements of Iranian professors, students and researchers both domestically and internationally, assisting in the implementation of the policy of transforming knowledge into wealth and commercialization of inventions, helping to promote Iran"s status among patent-protected countries, and development of support activities of the Fund in line with the goals and priorities of the comprehensive scientific plan of the country.

International patent registration is significantly important. One of the most significant prerequisites of entering knowledge-based products into the international markets is ensuring the protection of intellectual property rights and the proving the ownership of technologists and companies.
