Every year, while several theses are written by students, it is not clear how many of them are commercialized and become a solution to solve one of the community’s problems. A large number of these scientific efforts remain in written form and a small number of people are able to learn about their achievements. This issue was observed in the national festival and competition of “Panase” to become a solution for making theses applicable.

In this regard, the first round of three-minute national dissertation competition will be held by the support of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs.

From Thesis to a New Start

Regarding the goals of this national event, Parviz Karami, the secretary of the knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter, stated: more than four million students study at various levels, many of whom have graduated in recent years. All of these individuals deal with the issue of thesis at the end of their education. By holding the event of “Panase”, we have aimed to turn theses into a new start so that the people and organizations could learn about the scientific and technological activities of students in universities, especially with an interesting and comprehensive language in the shortest time possible.

The president of the information and communication center of the Vice-Presidency continued: therefore, the main goal of the event is to present the achievements of students’ and graduates’ research to the public. By doing so, we can introduce many novel and valuable studies to the community and achieve results. Meanwhile, one of the most important achievements of this event is building culture and promoting science, which should not be overlooked. Through presenting the scientific results of theses with a clear language, “Panase” can pave the way for entering students’ studies to the life of people and showcasing achievements made in the universities of the country. This could also be a solution for the increase of enthusiasm in scientific areas.

Toward the Elimination of the Society’s Needs

The advisor to the vice president for science and technology affairs mentioned that the event could be step toward meeting the society’s technological needs using students’ thesis. In this respect, he continued: by holding these events, research topics will be observed in the dissertations and they can be directed towards commercialization and meeting the needs of the society and benefit from the innovation and creativity of the young of the country in this field.

Karami also marked: ultimately, five top theses will receive special support for commercialization. It is notable that the students and graduates participating in “Panase” will enter the national competition after passing the regional stage.

Three Creative Minutes

Karami affirmed that the enthusiasts of the field could explain their theses in three creative minutes without specialized complexities. In this regard, he asserted: after that, the video will be uploaded on http://panase.ir and 150 people will be selected at the virtual space and move on to the regional stage. At this phase, 30 individuals selected will move on to the national stage. Ultimately, five best works will be selected.

The secretary of the knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter pointed out that more than 150 theses and research projects have been delivered to the festival, adding: the deadline to receive the works of students is July 5^th, 2020. However, the deadline has been extended due to corona outbreak and closing of universities.

Notably, the festival is the first round of “Panase” three-min thesis national competitions that will be held with the support of the Vice-Presidency and by Iran national science foundation and the knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter.
