The celebration of the Student's Day was held at the Technical and Vocational University with the presence of the Vice President of Science, Technology and Economy.

Ruhollah Dehghani, Vice President of Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, in a ceremony that was held at the same time as December 7 and honoring the status of a student at the Technical and Vocational University, pointing out that innovative ideas are the most important gift of students and the basis for their impact on the transformation and progress of society. He added: The goal of all the keywords in knowledge, technology, industry and university is that innovative thoughts and ideas become value; The value can be financial, authority or spiritual and they are all values.

The role of technical and vocational university in the training of technologists

Emphasizing that technical and professional universities should be a platform for training technologists, Dehghani added: Technology is a subject that must be taught, and when we talk about technology, several different areas are mentioned that have created a practical field. The expectation is that the Technical and Vocational University will train a technologist in the sense of someone who knows how to work with technology and conduct research in it.

He stated that to achieve value from thinking, we have to experience several stages and areas, and said: Thought is the first area to achieve value. Think tanks are the basis and source of development of thought. Thinking and educated people are obtained in think tanks. There are people who think and research to come up with a series of hypotheses. The product of thought research is a hypothesis. Hypotheses reach science and knowledge is exploited in scientific and educational centers so that scientific people flourish.

Vice President of Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy added: We put the assumptions to the test and derive theory from it, and the output is in the form of articles, theses and dissertations. The product of science education is a thinking person and the product of research in science includes articles and treatises.

Dehghani considered the next field to be technology and its location as technology centers and knowledge-based companies and said: These centers transform the produced knowledge into technology. The basic material of these centers is the same articles and researches that achieve technology by applying this science.

He stated that in the world, by teaching technology, a technician, meaning someone who is trained to work with technology, is obtained and continued: Research in technology results in patents.

 

Entrepreneurship comes from innovation

Vice President of Science, Technology and Knowledge-based Economy considered the field and the next stage of value creation to be innovation and added: Innovation is formed from the combination of a number of patents and creativity. Entrepreneurial people are obtained from the training of the procedure. Research in innovation yields the primary product. Dehghani stated that production is formed in the next stage and industry is its place, and continued: From training in industry, one can become an artisan and with research in this field, productivity can be reaped.

He added: The next area is the supply and the position of that market. We can get new ideas from the training of people in this field, business people and market research.

Dehghani continued by stating that research does not mean producing articles and has a broad concept: research on thought, science and technology and the market are all within the scope of research.

Pointing out that universities are the platform for the development of science, he continued: technical and professional universities should be responsible for technology education in the cycle. The work cannot be assigned to universities because universities are the platform for the development of science and they conduct research in it. Technological fields should be followed in technical and professional universities and the work of this university is education and research in technology.

The vice president of science, technology and knowledge-based economy continued by saying that the nature of technological jobs in the world based on innovations requires skill and expertise: the course of long-term training has come to an end and in today's world, expertise plays an even more key role than university education. Today, courses that are short-term but prepare a person for employment will be attractive, and technical and vocational university is the best place for this type of training.

He added: The labor market belongs to those who have received a maximum of 4 years of specialized and applied training. The current era belongs to similar sets of technical and vocational universities, and the most attractive educational centers and universities are those that offer short-term training.
