Needs assessment (technical-economic) of the system of telecommunication satellites is being evaluated by a group of experts of the country, so that necessary measures could be taken in this regard.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, needs assessment (technical-economic) of the system of telecommunication satellites is being evaluated by a group of experts, space research center of Iran and electronic industries of Iran.

According to this report, Iran has joined the satellites launchers since 2009, and has reached proper achievements by the efforts of domestic experts. Currently, formation of a telecommunication satellite system from small satellites in orbit of 500 to 700 km and its equivalent function with the satellite that is placed in the orbit of the track are seriously taken into account. In this condition, the placement of satellites in the non-Earth track creates the opportunity for use of potentials of the country in this area. The oil and gas area is one of the main users of non-Earth-track telecommunication satellites. Therefore, this needs assessment is being carried out to meet this need.

Iran has more than 80% of total satellite system technologies in the 500-700 km layer of Earth. Therefore, this project is performed in several phases, and 60-140 satellites will be placed in this system. In this regard, the first satellite has been formed and entered the first phase of the circuit.
