According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the fifth round of educational workshop on selection method of standard reference materials and its correct use in laboratories was held in Mashhad to improve the quality of services provided by member laboratories of the network and to guarantee the quality of test results.

In this round, which was held in two days and with the help of the special workgroup of standardization and calibration of laboratory networks, the main topics were the status and importance of use of reference materials in laboratories, difference in types of reference materials and their application method, necessities related to the licenses of reference materials and requirements of companies that manufacture reference materials.

This educational round was provided according to global standards on the selection of proper reference materials in laboratories, appropriate and effective exploitation of reference materials, and conditions to create reference materials.

The final program of the second day of the event included the visit of laboratories of the food and nutrients research institute. This institute is one of the active members of the laboratory network and includes two research centers of “food industry and sciences” and “advanced technologies of food”, which provide research, laboratory and special and technical counseling services in the food area.

Given the importance of adequate knowledge of laboratory centers in this area, this course is held in Tehran and some of the capitals of provinces for managing the quality of members of the strategic technologies laboratory network.
