In line with the production of marine statistics, recognition of various marine fields, statistics and general information, fishery, production and repair of fleets, ports & maritime transportation, marine tourism, education, research and offshore industries and marine safety are discussed.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, preparation of the technology roadmap, which is regarded as planning in technology field, can be beneficial in the competitive environment. The most fundamental benefit is achieving information that could increase the quality of decision making in the area of investment in technologies. Therefore, one of the programs of the marine knowledge-based industries, technology and development headquarter has aimed to prepare a marine technologies roadmap since 2014.

Recognition and Extraction of Marine Indicators

In order to recognize the important marine indicators in various fields, the pioneering countries of this industry are recognized and their marine area conditions are evaluated. In addition, domestic annual reports, that are indicative of the performance of areas related to sea, are assessed. According to the performed comparative studies and evaluation of domestic annual reports, the important marine indicators of the country are recognized and extracted.

Holding Consensus Meetings in the Presence of Representatives of Various Marine Fields

In line with the completion of the marine statistics of the country and to ensure the accuracy of the collected information, the opinions of the experts of this field were received and applied, and meetings were held in the presence of representatives of various marine fields to finalize the indicators. At the end, the mentioned statistics were sent to marine organizations to obtain the opinion of experts in order to eliminate the problems.

Preparation of the First Version of Marine Statistics

After the finalization of indicators of each field and collecting the required information through corresponding and cooperating with various maritime organizations, the first version of the marine statistics of the country was published in December 2013.

For technological planning and using the abilities of the country, the marine industry is responsible for management of the marine technologies roadmap by the cooperation of 18 marine organizations. At the end, the taken measures will be finalized published in 11 areas. Results of this project can be a suitable guidance for prioritization of projects and optimal use of financial resources for marine development of the country.
