In last days of the past fall, the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and headquarters for development of science and cognitive technologies (CSTC) aimed to publish a public call for sending mutual research proposals in interdisciplinary fields of brain and cognitive sciences between Iranian and Brazilian researchers. This call was announced mainly to create joint cooperation between Iranian and Brazilian teams in desired fields of FAPSEP and CSTC in knowledge and technology boarders, as well as exchanging and developing cognitive tools and services in the two countries.
In this call, proposals were delivered from November 26th 2016 to February 22nd 2017. It is noteworthy that projects were separately assessed in Iran and Brazil according to domestic processes of each country.
Scientific quality and innovation in the project, applicability of the proposed proposal, expertise of project executives and scientific achievement of projects as a joint cooperation between Iran and Brazil were the selection criteria. In this framework, the amount of financial support allocated to each project will be equally provided by FAPESP and CSTC, and each project director will obtain financial supports from his own side.
Maximum implementation duration for each project is two years, and the budget allocated to the confirmed projects is provided to purchase equipment and materials and pay the income of professors, researchers and students involved in the project. In addition, main directors of projects can visit the laboratories of the other party, costs of which will be also included in the budget. Implementation of the projects approved in this call will be the first step of an international cooperation and scientific data sharing in the field of cognitive neurosciences among Iranian and Brazilian researchers.
