According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the bio-economy working group of the biotechnology development headquarter has aimed to evaluate the role of government policies in the development of bio-economy in the country and recognize the capacities and place of bio-economy in regional and national programs considering land logistics in line with advancing the strategic goals of the country and within the framework of policies and strategies approved by the biotechnology development headquarter and in line with the biotechnology roadmap of the country.

Moreover, providing policy packages related to the removal of barriers to the commercialization of biotechnology technologies (e.g., removing customs barriers, entering products to the market, creating investment opportunities, removing bureaucracy regulations, removing monopoly) is among the other duties of the headquarters.

In the area of bio-economy, the goal is to improve the consumption of resources and food security through sustainable and efficient use of renewable resources, often without waste generation. In this regard, the bio-economy working group has been established to follow this goal of the biotechnology development headquarter.
