Participation of Iran in the International Meeting of Interlaboratory Comparison of Nanoparticle Measurements

Participation of Iran in the International Meeting of Interlaboratory Comparison of Nanoparticle Measurements

The international meeting of interlaboratory comparison of nanoparticle measurements was held in the presence of representatives of Iran and six other countries in Bangkok.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, along with holding interlaboratory comparison of nanoparticle measurements using dynamic light scattering methods, atomic force microscope, transmission electron microscope, and scanning electron microscope by the management of NANOTEC center of Thailand and in the presence of seven countries, a meeting was held for experts of these companies to discuss the results. The event was hosted by Thailand.

This meeting was held September 24th 2018 by the NANOTEC of Thailand and with the support of Asian Nano Forum and in the presence of representatives of 17 research centers from seven countries of Iran, England, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Philippine.

In this program, Wi Un Fu, one of the managers of center of measurement and standard (CMS), talked about the measurement and standards in quality development of products.

After that, Victoria Coleman from national standard institute of Australia talked about the measurement of nanoparticles. She presented accurate measurement techniques, uncertainty computing strategies, dependence of some measurements on test method, and some key notes on adopting the correct strategy in the area of measurement.

Coleman compared various results of tests performed by standard methods and showed an example of the importance of selecting the proper measurement technique.

In addition, Jaria Bojarn, manager of the National Institute of Metrology (Thailand), presented a lecture on effect of interlaboratory comparison on the measurement quality of centers.

In the evening round of the meeting, representatives of countries presented the results of interlaboratory comparison. The representative of Iran, who was sent by the safety and standard working group of nanotechnology development headquarter, presented the results of tests of four centers of strategic technologies laboratory network.

After that, the participants discussed the test performance and result analysis techniques, followed by presenting a summary of results of interlaboratory comparison performed in the previous round by Wi Un Fu.

It is notable that in Iran, Sharif University of Medical Sciences, Oil Industry Research Center, Razi Institute of Metrology, and Razi Applied Science Foundation, participated in this program as the members of the strategic technologies laboratory network.

It is notable that in 2014, three institutes of Kafa Laboratory, Oil Industry and Polymer and Petrochemical Research Center, participated in the interlaboratory comparison performed by ANF. These centers are the representatives of Iran in the international interlaboratory comparison.
