Metal nanoparticles improve efficiency of prefabricated heat exchangers.

“Application of technology to improve the efficiency of prefabricated heat exchangers with the use of metal nanoparticles” is the title of a research performed with the support of the national science foundation.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, researchers of the country in Yasuj University evaluated the effects nanoparticles on reduction of contact heat resistance in these exchangers. “Application of technology to improve the efficiency of prefabricated heat exchangers with the use of metal nanoparticles” is the title of the research performed by the support of the national science foundation. In this study, the contact heat transfer coefficient, which itself indicates the thermal resistance of the contact, was calculated before and after the coating of the aluminum nanoparticles on the contact surfaces by means of the inverse heat transfer problem. In addition, the impact of nanoparticles on reduced contact thermal resistance was assessed. Test results demonstrated 39% reduction in contact heat resistance of the exchangers.

This study aimed to evaluate the application of metal nanoparticles in improvement of thermal efficiency of fintech thermal exchangers. In other words, reducing contact heat resistance at the level of contact between fin and tube with the use of metal nanoparticles on the surface was the main objective. To this end, thermal analysis was carried out continuously by a heat transfer test simulator in heat exchangers with fin. Moreover, two types of materials (homogeneous with metal nanoparticles and another non-homogeneous metal nanoparticles but with high thermal properties) were investigated.
