Secretary of the specialized standard and calibration workgroup of laboratory network stated: maintaining laboratory standards is more important than their implementation, and the accreditation agencies periodically audit the laboratories with credentials.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Ahmad Zahir Mirdamad, secretary of the specialized standard and calibration workgroup of laboratory network, stated about the method to determine the standards of the laboratory network, expressing: standards are tools that are selected and used based on our needs and their applications. In the specialized laboratory field, the ISO/IEC17025 standard is a sample of international standards.

He added: these standards can be accredited by institute of standard and industrial research of Iran at the national level and by relevant qualification authorities at the international level.

According to Mirdamad, there are other standards, including ISO 45001 (safety management) and ISO 14001 (environmental management), which can be applied in all organizations, including laboratories.

Secretary of the specialized standard and calibration workgroup of the laboratory network also asserted: in terms of activity field, standards can be divided into international, regional, or even domestic (working). For instance, ISO is an international standard and CE standard of Europe is a regional standard.

He also pointed out: a great number of standards used in laboratories are technical standards to conduct tests, where the laboratory uses the standards at the time of tests to validate its results.
