Chairman of Iran national space administration stated: we have witnessed significant improvements in localization of technologies in area of UAVs through purposeful holding of university student competition.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Manouchehr Manteghi, chairman of Iran national space administration, stated about holding university student competition: holding the competition on designing and manufacturing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is one of the successful patterns among promotional activities of the aerial industry in Iran.

He added: with proper planning and principled defining of the missions of this competition, the competing teams were able to localize some technologies in the field of UAVs, and establish knowledge-based companies after producing products that are competitive with foreign samples.

According to Manteghi, island holding of competitions and festival without following a specific purpose and mission is wasting of financial costs and human resources in universities of the country. In this regard, he expressed: these events cannot have a favorable feedback. Meanwhile, proper planning attracts the attention of elites and experts and can take large steps in line with the development and localization of technology.

Chairman of Iran national space administration continued: in this respect, the administration has evaluated various offers, which led to the selection and support of the competition for design and manufacturing of UAVs in Shahid Rezaei Research Center of Sharif University of Technology as the central competition of the administration.

Moreover, he asserted: up until now, the fourth round of the competition is coming to its end with the efforts of the executive team. In total, about eight knowledge-based companies have been extracted from the competition, each developing their own share in the market of UAVs in the country.

It is noteworthy that the closing ceremony of the fourth round of the university student competition will be held in Sharif University of Technology on December 3^rd 2017, where the top teams of the competition will be rewarded.
