The secretary of biotechnology development headquarter stated: the best way to develop and maintain genetic reserves of the country is solving the economic problems of gene banks.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Mostafa Ghanei, secretary of biotechnology development headquarter, pointed out the necessity of maintaining the genetic reserves of the country, stating: having inadequate number of freezers to maintain genetic compounds and no secure version of genetic reserves in the country is one of the major problems in the area of maintaining genetic reserves, which we hope to eliminate in the future.

He added: given the greater diversity of plant species in the country, compared to the Europe continent, and with regard to the importance of the national herbal gene bank of the country due to a CWANA region in terms of crops and recognizing the gene bank of Iran among the top ten gene banks of the world regarding the importance and number of collections, we need to utilize all beneficiaries of this field to maintain and exploit this unique system.

According to Ghanei, all authorities of this region must take effective steps toward achieving the goals for execution and sustainability of the system of economy of resistance.

He also asserted: the best solution for development and maintaining genetic reserves of the country is eliminating economic problems of gene banks through having a plan and value chain for making the protection of these valuable resources economic.
