Iranian and Japanese researchers are collaborating scientifically
The Fund for the Support of Researchers and Technologists has developed a support package for Iranian researchers to make the most of the scientific potential of Japanese research centers.
This call for support for joint research projects of Iranian and Japanese researchers has been published and put on the agenda in two supportive formats, "Japan Science Promotion Association" and "Open Cooperation".
The Japan Science Promotion Association (JSPS) publishes an annual call for researchers from countries with diplomatic relations with Japan to collaborate with Japanese researchers.
In this format, the Japanese applicant, a member of the faculty of Japanese universities or research institutes, submits his research project proposal to JSPS, and the Iranian applicant, a member of the faculty of Iranian universities or research institutes, submits his proposal to the Fund for Support of Researchers and Technologists.
Submission of proposals in Iran is possible only through the Fund's research projects system at rtms.insf.org.
The natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences are at the forefront of supporting this call.
In this format, only joint research projects are supported and support for joint workshops and seminars is not on the Fund's agenda. The duration of each project is a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 24 months.
The fund's support for each research project in Iran is 2.5 billion rials for two years. If the Iranian researcher succeeds in using the participation of other domestic research support institutions in his project, this amount will increase up to 3 billion rials. Support resources for the Japanese applicant will be provided separately by JSPS. Acceptance of the proposal will be possible after arbitration in Iran and Japan and if the proposal is approved in both countries.
As the JSPS call does not cover all areas of science, the Fund for the Support of Researchers and Technologists has developed another format called Open Collaboration.
In this case, if the Iranian applicant intends to cooperate with a researcher in Japan and the Japanese researcher can provide the necessary financial resources to cooperate with the Iranian applicant without the need for the above call in JSPS, the fund after evaluating the applicant's proposal Iran will provide the financial support desired by the applicant in Iran.
Interested parties can visit the Researchers and Technologists Support Fund website for more information on the details of this project.
The Vice Presidency of Science and Technology is trying to increase the cooperation of Iranian researchers and developed countries through funds affiliated with the Vice President. This can facilitate the transfer of technology to the country.
