Manager of the workgroup of brain implants of the cognitive technologies and sciences development headquarter stated: Iran is among the top and active countries in brain implant area due to the supports of this headquarter.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Hossein Maghami, manager of the workgroup of brain implants of the cognitive technologies and sciences development headquarter, expressed: brain implant systems have various applications in areas of medicine, rehabilitation, and military, in a wat that this system can treat Parkinson’s disease by deep simulation of the brain.

Pointing out that the brain implant system is among the top knowledge areas, he continued: currently, six-tenth of the production of this field in the world is allocated to Iran, and according to global statistics, our country is among the first 25 countries that are active in the area of brain implants.

Design of brain implant system in the country

Currently, systems for record of brain signals from the surface of brain have been designed due to technological advancements in the country, which are taken after creating the system of a part of skull, so that the system is able to contact with the brain or its depth. In general, this concept means the use of brain implants. One of the goals of the headquarter is encouraging various scholars to be active in research area of brain implants. To achieve this goal, the headquarter aimed to establish a scientific committee containing prominent and active professors of this field in February 2014. After holding 15 sessions, several RFPs (request for presenting proposals by experts) have been prepared in 10 titles to complete a brain implant.
