According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Dr. Foad Ghasem Mohammad, deputy minister of higher education of Iraq, had a meeting with Ali Morteza Birang, deputy for international affairs and technological exchange and head of the center for international interactions in science.

During this meeting, head of the center for international interactions in science presented a report on the activities of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs in the field of development of science and technology, stating: in the past few years, one of the priorities of the Vice-Presidency has been the support and development of knowledge-based companies.

He continued: development of accelerators and support of export of knowledge-based companies are other measures followed up by the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs.

According to Birang, a joint cooperation agreement was signed between the Vice-Presidency and ministry of higher education of Iraq two years ago, for which we require more following up.

He also expressed: it is essential to hold the first meeting of the committee of joint science cooperation between Iran and Iraq as soon as possible.

During the meeting, the deputy minister of higher education of Iraq also appreciated the supports of Iran for destroying terrorism in his country and asked for the development of science and technology collaborations between the two countries.

He continued: we will followed up the implementation of cooperation agreement between the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs of Iran and ministry of higher education of Iraq after returning to Iraq.

Furthermore, Dr. Foad expressed the preparedness of Iraq in hosting a science and technology delegation from Iran, and regarded the development of science and technology cooperation between Iran and Iraq as a necessity.
