According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Mohammad Saeed Seyf, secretary of marine knowledge-based industries and technology development headquarter, pointed out marine capabilities of the country on the first meeting of the workgroup of marine industries and technologies of Golestan, stating: the goal of this meeting and holding this workshop is development of technologies in coastal provinces and creation of the foundation for growth and development of active companies in these provinces. In addition, technological projects will be recognized and received by this workgroup and decisions will be made about the problems in the development of marine technologies by identifying and eliminating the barriers.

This meeting was held in Golestan University in the presence of authorities of governorate and marine managers and deputies in Gorgan with the support of the national elites foundation of this province, where the most important issues, opportunities and methods to develop marine industries of the province were evaluated.

Some of the most important issues covered in this meeting included the assessment of provision of an Atlas on marine capacities of Golestan, evaluation of executive methods for comprehensive marine tourism project of the province, assessment of support methods of industries depending on marine areas, and evaluation of barriers to the development of marine industries.

Along this meeting, the Ashuradeh Island, which is the only Iranian island in Caspian Sea, and breeding sturgeon site in this island were visited. Moreover, active marine companies of Golestan province, as well as projects under construction were visited.
