According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, development of export markets, entrepreneurship based on domestic advantages and increased production capacity of plates to 6000 tons in the next 10 years are some of the achievements of the “commercialization and development of biomass fuel” project, which is being performed with the support of the energy technologies development headquarter. Achieving the desired goals of this project will have many benefits, including the creation of occupation for the youth.

With regard to the growing increase of use of biomass fuel due to the necessity of prevention of pollution and cost-effectiveness of this fuel, compared to fossil fuel, and high potential of Iran in the area of biomass energy, especially in agriculture and wood fields, development of the technology, commercialization and export to the available markets are significantly important for the management of this technology.

One of the proper solutions for use of this potential is turning agricultural and wood wastes into solid biomass fuel or plate. This fuel is known as a clean fuel and supplies a great part of thermal energy of houses and industrial units in the European market. In addition to plate, briquette production and several other products can be carried out, which can lead to good export in addition to adequate use in the domestic market.
