A foundation is laid by the support of medicinal herbs and traditional medicine technologies development headquarter to facilitate the interactions and activities between Iran and India and other countries of the Indian-Ocean Rim Association in the area of medicinal herbs over an agreement between Iran and India.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, a memorandum of understanding is signed between the regional science and technology exchange center of the Indian-Ocean Rim Association and science research center of India in the Alameh Jafari hall of ministry of foreign affairs and in the presence of “Nomiou Nokouh”, general secretary of Indian-Ocean Rim Association.

This agreement led to announcement of preparedness of medicinal herbs research center of Lucknow in India to cooperate with the medicinal herbs research centers of Iran and other countries of Indian-Ocean Rim Association.

Some of the provisions of this memorandum include the increase of scientific and commercial cooperation, such as holding various educational and specialized courses, conferences, gene bank exchange, and helping countries to exchange scientific and commercial information for products.

This meeting was attended by active pharmaceutical companies in the area of Iranian medicinal herbs, such as Zardband, Cinere, Barij Essence, Gol Daru, Darudarman Slafchegan and secretary of the association for production of medicinal herbs and natural products. In another part of the meeting, the attendees expressed their issues about the facilitation of commercial exchanges to expand cooperation with India.
