According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, establishment of clinic of cognitive and memory disorders throughout the country has been initiated over a year and a half ago with the support of headquarters for development of science and cognitive technologies. Developing these clinics will be associated with holding educational courses for students of this field from September. However, call for attracting elderly medicine specialists started from the beginning of establishment of these clinics.

Therefore, the opening ceremony of the first national project of educational courses of clinic of cognitive and memory disorders was held last week with the support of the headquarters for development of science and cognitive technologies to take an effective step toward prevention of Alzheimer’s disease, importance of which is undeniable. The world is turning gray, in a way that two individuals are turned 60 years old every second. Therefore, about 11% of the total population of the world was elderly in 2012, which will reach 22% by 2050. Meanwhile, growth of elderly has stopped in developed countries. Nevertheless, statistics of Iran have reported an increasing rate of elderlies since 10% of our population are old, and it is predicted to reach 10.5% in 2025 and 27% in 2050. Meanwhile, illiteracy is increasing, especially among female elderlies.

However, it should be noted that Alzheimer’s is an age-dependent disease and is significantly increasing in developing countries. However, this disease decreased in America over the past year, creating hopes for inhibit of its progression in individuals. If Alzheimers is diagnosed five years earlier, memory loss can be delayed using proper medications. However, increasing the awareness of the society about this issue plays a significant role in this regard. Moreover, clinic of cognitive and memory disorders can have considerable impacts on this area.
