Development of New Educational Methods with “Edutainment” Festival

Development of New Educational Methods with “Edutainment” Festival

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the “edutainment” festival, which is aimed to create culture and pay attention to modern educational methods in the new information and communication era with an emphasis on use of education technologies for hidden teaching of related contents, was held.

Traditional education methods, such as attending classes, studying 12 hours a day, testing, participating in test exams and such, not only cannot meet the educational needs of a society, but also discourage students to learn and attend school. In this regard, the only solution is improving the quality of education, updating the educational system and taking new education technologies into consideration, which can be realized in the form of entertainment, missions and educational goals.

The “edutainment” festival was initiated on May 8th 2017 with the support of soft and identity-making technologies development headquarter and in the presence of Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, Mohammad Hossein Sajadi Nayeri, secretary of soft and identity-making technologies development headquarter, and head of Alameh Tabatabaei University. This event ended in November by selecting the best team and appreciating the work of four other teams.

The main topics of this festival include computer games, virtual reality, simulation, virtualization, mobile tabs, serious games, software and, in general, all software services.

After announcing the call, 38 works were sent by various teams from Kharazmi, Isfahan, Arak and other universities. In the primary stage, 11 works were selected, which reduced to five works on the final phase.

Selected works of the first “edutainment” festival were from Atefeh Ahmadi from learning house for Tarlan game, Setareh Penhani, a graduate from Alameh Tabatabaei University for “Cool Tolls” game, Javad Rasti, head of the gaming center of Isfahan for augmented reality game of “Behghan”, Abolfazl Hasanian from Idea Media Center for “Hakimbashi” game and Nasibeh Sarami from gaming center of Isfahan University for the augmented reality game of “Behghan”.

The edutainment festival was held by the support of soft and identity-making development headquarter to create culture and focus on new educational methods.
