Leishmaniasis is a skin disease that does not have an effective vaccine, and assigning research seats to this area allows the researchers Iran to follow up their activities to design and develop a relevant vaccine for this disease.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Sima Ra’fati, who has been assigned a research seat for design and development of Leishmaniasis vaccine and immunotherapy in animal sample with design and establishment of a non-invasive diagnostic method for relevant patients, expressed about the measures taken in line with this seat: this seat is related to Leishmaniasis disease, for which there is an insufficient amount of information about these patients, and researchers try to search and conduct studies in this area. This disease is one of the healthcare problems of Iran.

She pointed out the performing of three related projects through this research seat, affirming: at first, the disease must be diagnosed in a non-invasive manner since most of the invasive methods are painful.

Leishmaniasis is a skin disease that does not have an effective vaccine and the only solution for this disease is control through therapeutic treatment. Geographically, Iran is located between Iraq, Afghanistan and Turkey, which are endemically involved with this disease. With regard to the support of the owner of this research seat by the world health organization over several international projects, establishment of immunotherapy and research on Leishmaniasis vaccine in Pastor Institute of Iran have created a high ability and have laid the foundation for performing this seat.
