Dehghani Firouzabadi: Iranians abroad need to be respected/we have Iranians abroad who are full-fledged patriots
In the meeting of the Specialized Working Group on Science and New Technologies of the Supreme Council for the Affairs of Iranians Abroad, the Acting Vice President of Science and Technology addressed the existing capacities and important issues surrounding Iranians abroad.
Ruhollah Dehghani Firouzabadi, Acting Vice President of Science and Technology, at the meeting of the Specialized Working Group on Science and New Technologies of the Supreme Council for the Affairs of Iranians Abroad, hosted by the Vice Presidency of Science and Technology, pointing out that the issue of Iranians abroad is far from a mere subject. It is considered important and has several characteristics, he said: The first characteristic is the international face of the Islamic Republic, Iranians abroad are considered one of the aspects of the country's international face due to being Iranian for other nations.
Protection of human capital
He stated that the second important point is the existence of talented people and personalities who belong to Iran, adding: for any reason and considering the issues that the country has had in the past years, a significant number of the country's capacities and talents that have the opportunity they wanted to go to other countries and left Iran, among them some were interested in going and some left the country because of the difficult conditions.
Dehghani Firouzabadi stated that the third point is the economic and investment issue, and said: A country like Lebanon runs a very good part of its economy by the Lebanese outside this country, this issue is a very strong indicator. Among Iranians abroad, there are people who are really economically capable and are interested in spending money for their country.
He continued: An ordinary person abroad can sometimes make a good investment in Iran, we are very prominent in terms of capable human resources. We should be able to use these three capacities well.
Dehgani Firouzabadi added: We have zealous Iranians abroad who, regardless of their religious and political tastes, are zealous for their country, full-fledged patriots and have patriotism, especially in the older generations, which is a golden opportunity.
He pointed out that if a voice of friendship with Iran is issued from one of these people, it can be very effective, and said: One of the general policies that we should follow is that in every country, according to the capacities, prominent Iranians who we know that Iran is friendly and we have to do it with the limited expenses we have.
Dehghani Firouzabadi stated that these Iranian people abroad need our respect and said: these people should be respected and also all-round investors should be formed in a complete package so that these people can become ambassadors of other countries for the Islamic Republic.
He added: Before the issue of the foreign market, we should pay attention to our identity in foreign markets. Powerful identities must have authenticity and brand before they find a market.
Stating that the Supreme Council for the Affairs of Iranians Abroad has the capacity to legislate and these capacities should be used very strongly, the Acting Vice President of Science and Technology said: Committees and side commissions of the Council should be formed in order to make decisions. Scientific and technological capabilities also have good capacities.
He continued: The vice presidency of science and technology, as a beautiful face in science and technology and the coordinator and supporter of all executive bodies in the field of science and technology, tries to play its role well.
Creating a favorable environment for non-resident Iranians
Alireza Begdali, deputy consular officer of Iranian affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Iranians are outside the country of our nation, who live outside our borders, and said: We distanced ourselves from these people due to three reasons. It is an immigration that has caused these people to leave the country in several waves.
He continued: the discussion of the external psychological environment is the second factor and the different governance and geography that causes people to acquire citizenship is the third factor, therefore there is a need inside the country in addition to the government and the services provided to the Iranian nation by the rest of the institutions for this. The part of Iranians who are abroad should also establish a supreme council.
