Cooperation of cultural industries of Iran and South Korea: one step forward
On the second annual meeting of Iran and South Korea in the area of creative industries and cultural technologies, which was held in the presence of high-ranking science and technology delegation of Iran, various agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed between the knowledge-based companies of the two countries, which is regarded as a new step toward the expansion of cooperation in cultural industries.
According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, during the travel of president of South Korea to Tehran in May 2016, 19 cooperation documents were signed to develop the associations of the two countries.
Meanwhile, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs and minister of culture, sports and tourism of South Korea in the area of cultural technologies and creative industry. Following this agreement, the first joint meeting in the area of cultural industries of Iran and South Korea was held on December 12th, 2017 in Tehran.
In total, 20 Korean and 60 Iranian companies in the areas of computer video games, animation and educational digital content participated in this meeting, learning about the abilities of each other and evaluating the headlines for joint cooperation.
In this regard and with the purpose of expanding cooperation in the area of cultural and creative industries, the second joint meeting of Iran and South Korea was held on August 30th, 2017 in Seoul, South Korea, in the presence of the high-ranking science and technology delegation of Iran.
Presence of the High-Ranking Science and Technology Delegation and 20 Knowledge-based and Technological Companies of Iran
In this travel, Seyed Mohammad Hossein Sajjadi Nayeri, secretary of soft and identity-making technologies development headquarter, and Parviz Karami, advisor to the vice president for science and technology affairs and secretary of knowledge-based economy, technology and science development headquarter, attended meetings along with 20 knowledge-based and technological Iranian companies in three areas of computer video games, animation and educational digital content.
Exchange of Joint cooperation Offers between the Companies of the Two Countries
In the morning program of the meeting, more than 70 half-hour meetings were held between Iranian companies and 20 top companies of South Korea. During these meeting, after familiarization of the two parties with products and abilities of each other, they offered joint cooperation plans and projects.
In the evening program of the meeting, first the representatives of governments of Iran and South Korea presented lectures. General directorate of ministry of general culture of Korea, as the representative of ministry of culture, sports and tourism, and secretary of soft and identity-making technologies development headquarter, as the representative of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs of Iran, emphasized the role of cultural industries in economic advancements and importance of development of soft technologies in exploring and creating new markets for cultural industries of the two countries.
During the meeting, representatives in the areas of computer video games, animation and educational digital content introduced their achievements and described their cooperation field with the other side.
In the first part of the program, “Sam Suk Kang” from “Masangsoft” and “Farzam Malekara” from “Simulator Developer” presented lectures as representatives of industry of video games.
In the second section, “Kim-Hyun Joo” from “Holheri” studio and “Ali Nouri Oskouei” from “Eshragh” studio talked about their experiences in the joint project of “Koushnameh” between Iran and South Korea.
In addition, “Sung-Hi Lee” from “Kaist University” and “Mahmoud Pourmand” from “Faranesh” company pointed out some notes about the importance of augmented reality technology in education and development of education skill through virtual educations as representatives of education digital content industry.
In the final part, a question-and-answer session was held in the presence of specialized lecturers.
Agreement for Further Cooperation of Private Companies of the Two Countries
During the meeting, government officials of the two countries attended a meeting to evaluate the process of holding the annual meetings and development of cooperation between Iran and South Korea in the area of cultural and creative industries.
In this meeting, which was attended by deputy minister of culture, deputy of cultural industries content production and deputy of public culture industries of South Korea, secretary of soft and identity-making technologies development headquarter and secretary of knowledge-based economy, technology and science development headquarter, in addition to emphasizing on mutual cultural areas, they talked about establishing a joint platform to follow up cooperation between the private companies of the two countries.
Joint Statement about the Type of Cooperation
During the dinner of the second annual meeting between Iran and South Korea in the area of creative industries and cultural technologies, which was hosted by the minister of sports, culture and youth of South Korea, a joint statement was announced by the soft and identity-making technologies development headquarter of Iran and ministry of culture, sports and tourism of South Korea about the type of cooperation between the two countries, which was signed by the secretary of the headquarter and deputy of minister of culture.
Moreover, Hasan Taherian, ambassador of Iran in South Korea, Mohammad Hossein Sajjadi Nayeri, secretary of soft and identity-making development headquarter, deputy minister of culture of South Korea and deputy of the content of cultural industries presented lectures during this program.
Signing of a Joint Cooperation Contract to Produce the Movie of Koushnameh
During the ceremony, joint cooperation contracts were signed between private companies of Iran and South Korea. Accordingly, a contract was signed to produce a joint movie called “Koushnameh”, taken from an ancient story with a mutual culture between Iran and South Korea.
Joint Cooperation Contract for Development of a Software Platform
In addition, a joint cooperation contract was signed to develop a software platform in line with the management of animation projects between the studios of “Foresight Media” from Iran and “C To Monster” from South Korea.
Signing Two Joint Cooperation Agreements on Production of Animation (Movies and Series)
In the next part of the meeting, two joint cooperation agreements were signed between the studios of “Gonbad Caboud” and “Honar Pouya” from Iran and “H Culture” studio from South Korea to produce joint animations in the form of movies and series.
Holding the Pavilion of Iran in Global Audio and Video Exhibition
Along with holding the joint forum on cooperation of cultural technologies and creative industries between Iran and South Korea, the pavilion of Iran was held in the exhibition broadcast worldwide (BCWW), where three private companies from companies providing inclusive audio and video contents in Internet network and two private studios for animation production. During the joint forum, Iranians could negotiate with foreign buyers.
During this exhibition and due to the provided opportunities, a number of private companies in the area of animation and game were able to sign agreements with Korean companies. In this regard, Sebian Studio was able to sign a contract with Luca studio to produce a joint movie.
Signing a Joint Cooperation Agreement to Create a Game
A Joint cooperation agreement was signed between “Simulator Developer” (gaming studio) and “TNG Soft” to produce a MMO game. This contract was signed in the presence of the secretary of the soft and identity-making technologies development headquarter and secretary of knowledge-based economy, technology and science development headquarter.
At the end, a joint cooperation was signed between “Ifa Tasvir Aria” animation company and “H Culture” studio to produce an animated movie.
