The contract for creation and establishment of the first specialized accelerator of cell city in the area of stem cells and tissue engineering is signed between the project implementer and Kharazmi University.
According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, and Mohammad Farhadi, minister of science, research and technology, came to an agreement on the implementation of a memorandum of understanding on establishing “cell city” as an important part of development of stem cells science and technology and support of active knowledge-based companies of this area.
This project has been designed for recognition, as well as qualitative and quantitative development of active companies in this field, education and empowerment of companies, development of the foundation for production of cell products and increase of share of Iran from regional stem cell market. The project of “cell city” has various sections, one of which include the specialized accelerator in the area of stem cells and regenerative medicine science and technology area.
In this meeting, which was held in the presence of Dr. Mahboudi, head of board of directors of biotechnology syndicate, Dr. Sobhan Elahi, chancellor of Kharazmi University, and Dr. Hamidieh, secretary of stem cells science development headquarter, a contract was signed between the university and project implementing contractor, which has experiences in the accelerating area.
Amir Ali Hamidieh, secretary of stem cells science development headquarter, stating in this meeting: with regard to serious attempts of the ministry of science and the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, this project had significant goals. For the first time, active companies in the area of stem cells have gathered to meet the primary needs for establishment of significant acceleration in production of cellular products.
He expressed: this accelerator will be seen on an international level. We hope that it will be regarded as “cell city” in the region until the year of 2020.
This contract is the link between university and industry and can be regarded as a proper step, which will be definitely modeled all over the country.
