Brain signal data analysts will compete

The first national competition of data analysis of brain signals with clinical applications will be held with an emphasis on participation, cooperation, and synergy among various disciplines in line with clinical and research uses.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the aim of holding this national event is forming research and technology cores encompassing managers and physicians with an approach to solve the existing clinical problems in the country. The national brain-mapping laboratory has aimed to create interactions between researchers in the fields of clinical, medical engineering, neurology, and its various branches. Moreover, participation, cooperation and synergy in line with clinical applications, using the capacities of artificial intelligence in line with the needs of the medical society, integrating the valuable experiences of clinical elites with engineering methods to improve clinical diagnoses and increasing the pace of diagnosis and remote implementation of medical systems are other goals followed up in this event.

This competition has two in-person and remote stages held in the form of groups of professors, researchers and students. Participants must register for the competition in the form of 4-5-member groups and determine their group members.

After registration and receiving questions, the participants can answer the questions and send the results through the website of the national brain-mapping laboratory until September 22nd, 2019. After evaluation, the accepted projects of the first stage will compete with other in October 2019.

Recording EEG signals is one of the most conventional methods to assess brain performance in a non-invasive way. Today, the potential of EEG is considered in therapeutic and diagnostic applications, and in order to realize this potential, several methods have been proposed for the processing and analysis of the EEG signal, which is increasingly being developed.
