According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Mahmoud Mehrdad Shokrieh, secretary of advanced manufacturing and materials technologies development headquarter, is selected as one of the top scientists of the world according to the latest announcement by the ISI essential science indicators.

Mahmoud Mehrdad Shokrieh is a faculty member of science and industry university in the area of mechanics and materials, the top professor of this university in 2016, selected researcher in specialized field of mechanical engineering in 2015, the top technologist of Tehran in 2015 and professor of the country in 2007. He was also selected as the top professor of mechanical engineering association in 2014 and gained the national prize of Alameh Tabatabaei.

ISI essential science indicators reports a list of top scientists of the world every two months, which is efficient according to the latest evolutions in the international science network. Scientific authority is the basis for selection top scientists in this center. It is worth noting that some scholars have ranks in different areas. In order to select the top scientists of the world, ISI counts the number of performed studies and published articles of a scholar over the past ten years, categorizing the researchers into 22 fields. Following that, these researchers are arranged in descending order based on the number of obtained citations, and one percent of top scientists of each field are presented as the top scholars of that area.
