Production and design of electric cars as a knowledge-based product is one of the newly considered topics in the country. Recently, tax exemption for these products has been approved by the parliament to develop their application.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, tax exemption of value added tax for domestically produced electric-gasoline cars, as well as electric motorcycles and vehicles has recently announced by tax affairs organization to head of tax administration of Tehran, general directorate of value added tax of Tehran, general directorate of large Moodian tax affairs and managers of tax affairs of provinces. According to the note of Article (9), the law of clean air, which is approved by the parliament, domestically produced electric and gasoline cars, motorcycles and electric cars are exempt from value added tax. This task can create the foundations for development of this technology in Iran.

Design and production of electric cars as a knowledge-based product have been initiated since previous years in the country to reduce greenhouse gases. In addition, the macro national plan of “two-engine Rana vehicle” has been carried out by the support of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, and electric cars have been taken into consideration by the authorities of the country. In this regard, Rouhani, president of Iran, along with Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, visited the two-seat car of Yuz, product of knowledge-based company of Islamic Azad University, Qazvin branch, Avita motorcycle, product of Shahid Rezari research center of Sharif University of Technology, and an electric car produced by Bana Sharif knowledge-based company, and emphasized the necessity of focus on these products.
