According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the countries of China, Korea and Japan have obtained about 90% of ship construction in the past few years. These countries have had extended programs for support of this type of industry due to the significant impacts of this industry on side industries and the associated level of job creation. In this regard, one of the most important tools has been proper facilities, which have led to abundant international orders.

Share of Iran from the Ship Construction Market

Ship construction has been focused in Iran since the 70s and some examples have been manufactured. However, this area has never been comprehensively supported and has had improper mechanism. Over the past years, proper investments have been made in line with the development of capacity of ship construction and repair.

Fortunately, construction of fleets, such as 113-member tanker and container ships, has proven our technical ability in this area. However, due to the current problems, a maximum of 10% has been used from the present capacity. Therefore, there is a significantly proper capacity, activation of which could be associated with the development of occupation, attraction of a greater share of the market to meet the extended domestic needs in ship construction area of the country.

In the repair area, there are some extended fleets in the market of the country and activities in this area have been improved over time. Nevertheless, supply of equipment and interaction with foreign suppliers are significantly important in this area and must be focused.
