Secretary of biotechnology development headquarter stated: one of the programs and priorities of the headquarter is production of 30 new biomedicines in the country.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Mostafa Ghanei, secretary of biotechnology development headquarter, pointed out the abilities of the youth in the country in the production of biomedicine, expressing: one of the priorities of the headquarter is supporting the production of new medicine. In this regard, new biomedicines will be produced in the country with the help of the headquarter. These medications will be manufactured by domestic experts.

He added: currently, there are 146 biomedicines in the global market, 20 of which are present in the market of Iran, including four monoclonal antibody medicines and 16 recombinant drugs.

According to Ghanei, biomedicines are those obtained from bio-sources. Vaccines, blood and its products, cells, allergens, biological tissues and recombinant proteins are the most recognized types of biomedicines.

He also asserted: this category of medications is distinguished from chemical drugs and based on protein derived from alive cells cultured in the laboratory.
