1649 Scientific Works Have Been Delivered to the Third Round of the “Mustafa Prize”

The third round of the Mustafa Prize will come to an end on November 11th, 2019.

This festival is held every two years to appreciate the work of scientific and technological elites of the Islamic countries.

The Muslim world is one of the largest religious communities in the world, and various countries have embraced the world"s Muslims. Iran is also the cradle of Islamic countries. Accordingly, with a cultural and scientific action, a festival dedicated to Islamic countries has been held for three years.

“The Mustafa Prize” is held every two years to honor the top scientists of the Islamic world and increase scientific cooperation between scientists. On this international event, awards are given to innovative knowledge-border works. This prize is given to the top Islamic individuals in science and technology.

For instance, Professor Mohammad Amin Shokrollahi, a faculty member of Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne and the founder of the first computer science summer school in Tehran, was one of the winners of the Mustafa Prize in the last round.

Establishing the first summer school on theoretical aspects of computer science in Tehran and conducting training courses on Raptor codes for mobile telecommunication at the University of Tehran are other important initiatives. He has also advised a large number of doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers from Islamic countries.

Four Selected Works in the Field of ICT

According to Mahdi Safarinia, the secretary of the policy-making council of the Mustafa Prize, announced the publication of the call for this round of the Mustafa Prize to 202 valid international scientific units and 512 scientists from 52 countries.

On the third round of the event, we received 1649 works, 199 of which are in the ICT field. However, only four works were selected at the end after primary evaluation.

According to the report, 1664 works were related to medical and biotechnology field, 106 of which were primarily selected and decreased to four work at the end. In the nanotechnology field, 172 works were perceived, which decreased to 47 works. Nonetheless, no work was selected at the end.

Selection of Four Works in Medicine and Biotechnology Field

In total, 614 works were received in the area of all science and technology fields, where eight works were selected at primary evaluation and a total of two works were selected at the end.

According to Safarinia, four works in the field of medicine and biotechnology and eight works in the field of all sciences and technologies were introduced to the policy-making council of the Mustafa Prize.

Among these works, two medicine and biotechnology works were selected, where one prize will be jointly given to two scientists. In addition, three scientists residing in Islamic countries were selected as the winners of this section, who will jointly receive a prize. The award is one of the symbols of scientific excellence in the world and has grown dramatically by holding two rounds of audiences and applicants.

November 11th, 2019; the Last Day of the Third Round of Mustafa Prize

In these three rounds, various scientists had attended the event from Turkey, Malaysia, Iraq, Bangladesh, Canada, Ethiopia, France, Germany, India, Lebanon, Turkmenistan, the United States, Serbia, Spain, Algeria, and Britain.

The third round of the event will be held November 11th, 2019 in Vahdat Hall. The winners from Iran and Turkey will receive awards.

According to the executive document of the event, Sorena Sattari (the vice president for science and technology affairs) and Mahdi Safarinia (the head of Pardis Technology Park) are the head and secretary of the policy-making council of the prize.
