“Knowledge-based economy” is the punch line of resistive economy

Before noon (Sunday), today, in the opening ceremony of the Fourth Exhibition of Laboratory Equipment, "Made in Iran", held in Tehran Permanent International Fair Ground, Dr. Eshaq Jahangiri declared: “Visiting this exhibition, we witnessed the significant development of achievements, which is our honor.”

Reminding of the fact that, at present, Iran has took great distance from developed countries, he stated: “To return to our country’s original position in the field of science and technology development, we have to pay attention to the country’s elites and scientists more than before and support them.”

Dr. Jahangiri added: “In five trends of resistive economy and also in the main sections of these policies, the issue of knowledge-based economy has been highlighted and our main orientation should be in a way that knowledge should be the main tenet in our country’s economy.”

The first Vice-President, referring to the report by the Vice-Presidency of Science and Technology, stating that, from the aspect of the number of engineering graduates, Iran has the fifth ranking in the world, noted: “With this number of educated manpower and productive youths, we will be able to realize a knowledge-based economy in our country.”

Referring to the conference, held recently in Ministry of Petroleum, with a resistive economy trend, Dr. Jahangiri said: “In this conference, some contracts and memorandums were signed between the Ministry of Petroleum and our country’s authenticate universities and it was decided that more than one thousand milliard tomans of resources should be dedicated to the universities so that the required science and technologies for the country’s oil industry are provided by the domestic manpower.”

The first Vice-President referred to the authenticate universities as the basic infrastructures of knowledge-based economy and said: “Our country’s universities should be equipped, since the universities and science centers can play influential roles in transferring and producing science and technology.”

Dr. Jahangiri, expressing regret for the fact that the universities’ required equipment have not been provided in the previous years, said: “The universities’ laboratory equipment are extremely worn out and I hope that this exhibition has the capacity to meet the requirements of our country’s universities so that the universities’ research trend will continue favorably.”

The first Vice-President considered supporting the domestic production as one of the government’s certain policies in 1395 and said: “To provide job for the country’s educated youths and raise the level of peoples’ convenience, we need over %5 economic growth and the prerequisite for the realization of the growth of domestic production.”

In this ceremony, also, the Vice-President of Science and Technology also referred to the country’s capitals and said: “If our orientation is correct, we can utilize our youths’ knowledge and thinking in order to create added value and turn them into entrepreneurs.”

Also, it should be said that, before attending this ceremony, the First Vice-President opened the Fourth Exhibition of Laboratory Equipment, Created by Iran, and besides visiting some of the booths, was informed of the country’s latest domestic achievements and capabilities.” 

Also it should be noted that the Fourth Exhibition of Laboratory Equipment,"Made in Iran", will be held on April 24th to 27th, in the Persian Gulf Hall of Tehran International Exhibition.
