The country's share of international migration; Iran is hosting more international students than ever before/
One of the forms of immigration around the world is done for the purpose of education and students, and Iran is also present in the market of these immigrations.
To understand the situation of Iran in terms of the entry of international students into the country, the Iranian Immigration Outlook with the support of the Vice Presidency of Science and Technology has stated and introduced statistics in this area.
Although the population of foreign students in Iran has increased over the past decade, the current population of foreign students in Iran is far from the goals of the Sixth Development Plan and to attract 75,000 foreign students.
The number of international students in the years 2011 to 2020 has increased by 8 times and has increased from 5 thousand 845 students in 2020 to 44 thousand 350 students.
Increasing Iran's share of international students
The ratio of foreign students to total students in the period 1390 to 1399 from 0.15 percent to 1.39. Afghan students with 46 percent and Iraqi students with 24 percent are the largest group of foreign students in Iran.
Students in these two countries in 2019 in total accounted for 69% of foreign students in Iran. Lebanon is next with 3%, followed by Syria and China with 2%.
The majority of foreign students in Iran have been studying for bachelor's and master's degrees. In 2019, 55% of undergraduate students and 31% of graduate students were studying.
Universities affiliated with the Islamic Azad University with 43%, Ministry of Science, Research and Technology with 31%, non-governmental and non-profit higher education institutions with 9% and the Ministry of Health and Medical Education with 8% have attracted the most foreign students, respectively.
