Expressed during the Meeting between the President of the World Academy of Sciences and the Vice President for Science and Technology Affairs;

Provision of postdoctoral grants in cooperation with one of the organizations of the world academy of sciences

The president of the world academy of sciences met with the vice president for science and technology of Iran during the second Mustafa Prize.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Roman Morenzi, president of TWAS, and Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, met during the second Mustafa Prize. In this event, Ahmad Reza Alaei Tababtabaei, director general for technology exchange, pointed out the technological cooperation model between the Vice-Presidency and the science academy of China, stating: these cooperation performed in the form of silk road science fund will be carried out with the support of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs and science academy of China.

He also expressed: this fund will support joint research activities between the Iranian researchers and science academy of China in six areas of nano technology, renewable energies, cognitive sciences, advanced materials, artificial intelligence and water sciences.

According to Alaei, these supports will be granted in three models of performing joint research projects, holding joint workshops and exchange of researchers in a the form of short courses.

He also announced the granting of postdoctoral grants in the form of female scholars’ cooperation network of the Islamic world with organization for women in science for the developing world (OWSD) as a related organization.

Moreover, Alaei emphasized: the Alzahra University is selected as the main host of women at postdoctoral stage from developing countries.

 

During the meeting, Morenzi provided some explanations about the activities of TWAS in the form of south-south cooperation, and described their government investment programs for elites and the cooperation model with Brazil, South Africa and India.
