Knowledge-based Companies Accelerates the Progress in the Field of Regenerative Medicine

 

Secretary of stem cell sciences and technologies development headquarter stated: the number of active knowledge-based companies was less than the fingers of hands a few years ago. But today, products have been introduced to the market with the activity of 100 knowledge-based companies, which is indicative of acceleration of activities in this field.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the second symposium of “stem cells in joint and bone diseases; uses, current and future” was held with the goal of improving the position of this field in the clinical field in Shafa Yahyaeian education and treatment center.

Amirali Hamidieh, secretary of stem cells sciences and technologies development headquarter, presented a speech in this program, stating: the regenerative medicine field has a great importance in today’s world. This field is a combination of tissue engineering, gene therapy, small molecules, biotechnology, cell therapy and cellular immunotherapy, each playing a significant role in treatment of diseases.

Hamidieh continued: the field of regenerative medicine manipulates and changes the genes that are responsible for diseases, which leads to their destruction. The field of congenital bone diseases can be treated with this science. Therefore, regenerative medicine must be recognizes as an integrated field of various types of knowledge.

Gene Therapy Is the Definitive Cure of Disease

Hamidieh continued: one of the bases of the health system in the future is cell and gene. Therefore, advanced countries have made huge investments in this field. These investments are not limited to companies related to this field, but large companies come from different domains to this area. For example, General Electric has invested heavily in the field of medical rehabilitation, which suggests that there will certainly be significant news in the near future about actions in this area.

Secretary of stem cell sciences and technologies development headquarter explained about the measures taken by the headquarter, asserting: in the past, extremism was made in this area, but the headquarters has aimed to bring the balance back in cooperation with more than a thousand faculty members of the scientific centers.

The second symposium of “stem cells in joint and bone diseases; uses, current and future” was held in Shafa Yahyaeian research and treatment center with the cooperation of the stem cells sciences and technologies development headquarter and Iran University of Medical Sciences. In this symposium, new developments and applications of stem cells and tissue engineering in the field of bone and cartilage, clinical trials in stem and medical stem cells and medical rehabilitation in the field of bone and cartilage, research, technology and thesis priorities in the field of bone and cartilage, cellular and medical products, the foundation in the field of bone and cartilage and the commercialization landscape and the market for stem and medical stem cells and medical rehabilitation in the field of bones and cartilage were the topics of this symposium.
