According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the master national plan of “ParWwalk”, which can help patients with spinal cord injuries, was unveiled in Rofaydeh integrated rehabilitation services and faculty of rehabilitation in the presence of Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, and Ghazi Zadeh Hashemi, minster of health.
According to Sattari, “ParaWalk” is a successful project, which is the result of collaboration between medicine and engineering fields. He stated: this national master plan is a successful example of interdisciplinary technological cooperation. In addition, it is regarded as one of the most significant actions in the field of knowledge border due to improvements in neural technology.
After years of scientific and technological teamwork in research center of University of Science and Industry and other universities with the help of Dr. Erfanian team and center of national master plan of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, positive results have been obtained. While we are still passing the final stages of clinical trials for this plan, the majority of the work has been done and it is almost ready to be commercialized.
Sattari pointed out the realization of the next phases of this project will eliminate a large portion of problems of patients with spinal injuries, expressing: this product cannot be used for all patients. However, it can treat patients with certain conditions. Meanwhile, adding young and creative teams to this project and support of the ministry of health to confirm the project will be associated with commercialization of the product and presentation in the market.
The national master plan of “ParaWalk” is the result of great endeavor of researchers of University of Science and Industry for many years and centers of rehabilitation and national master plans of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs. This device is now delivered and its clinical stage should be initiated.
In this ceremony, Hashemi and Sattari were accompanied by Erfanian and Zeinoddin, vice president for innovation and technology commercialization, Barkhordari, head of University of Science and Industry, Khoram Khorshid, head of Rehabilitation University, Layeghi, head of Rofaydeh hospital, Salehi, head of national master plan center, Parviz Karami, advisor to the vice president for science and technology, and a number of members of Rofaydeh Hospital.
