According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs and head of Iran’s national elites foundation, considered the modification of culture of the society to be the first step of development, stating: while there are great capacities in the country, they cannot be suitably used to develop the country due to lack of knowledge-based culture.
Head of Iran’s national elites foundation considered being wealthy to be at odds with elite thinking. He continued: until a person is not confident enough about his invention or project and cannot recover its plan if failed, he cannot improve the fields of knowledge-based and entrepreneurship, since these sections are different from the public sector, which is mainly financially supported by oil incomes, and its base is thinking, believing and trying.
Sattari continued: in the past, the government aimed to create jobs by using the money raised from the sale of oil and natural mines and establishing large factories and companies. However, this type of thinking has completely faded today and has no applicability. The majority of current problems in our country have been caused due to this method of development, which has been conducted with good intentions.
Head of the national elites foundation regarded the creation of an entrepreneurial ecosystem as the most important infrastructure of institutionalization of knowledge-based thinking. According to Sattari, paying money to top talented individuals of our community with no obligations for return is like betrayal. He expressed: this type of paying turns a talented individual into an inefficient and demanding person. Therefore, this approach is not used in advanced countries anymore.
Sattari declared: the majority of large companies of the world financially support the top talented people instead of just providing interest-free money for them. The same approach must be applied in large companies and provinces of the country. The internal large enterprises must provide funds for top talented individuals and present their own problems in the form of startups. This approach will yield more positive results, compared to the development of research and development units.
Head of Iran’s national elites foundation emphasized the importance of planning and implementing cultural programs for more participation of top talented individuals.
Sattari also marked: today, we can witness that many non-resident researchers are going back to Iran, the majority of whom have no intention in working in universities and are more eager to be a part of knowledge-based companies. Elites foundations of provinces can take advantage of this situation and aim to provide the opportunity for these people to work in this field, which will facilitate the creation of an entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The vice president for science and technology affairs mentioned the importance of lack of participation of provincial elites foundations in political arena.
Head of Iran’s national elites foundation conveyed: given the orientations of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs and national elites foundation, as well as cultural measures taken in the past few years, a very favorable condition for elite community of the country is predicted.
In another section of the meeting, Parviz Karami, advisor to the head of national elites foundation and president of headquarter of developing culture of science, technology, and knowledge-based economy, pointed out the changes made in national elites foundation website, marking: by launching the new website, it is possible to cover the activities of provincial elites foundations more than before.
He continued: national programs of provincial elites foundations must also be expressed on the website. Therefore, it is essential for these foundations to work more in the information section. Moreover, Karami mentioned setting up and establishing of foundation center and discussed the subjects of books published by provincial elites foundations, conveying: knowledge-based science, technology and economy culture development headquarter will only support this action only if provincial elites foundations have obtained the necessary license from the related headquarter.
He also emphasized on the importance of timely reporting and answering the delivered letters by the center of public relations of the foundation.
Detection and introduction of top elites and talented individuals of a province by provincial elites foundation to knowledge-based science, technology and economy culture development headquarter for modeling in the media was also emphasized by Karami during this meeting.
